AUDIO EXPANDS HK AUDIO COHEDRA LINE ARRAY STOCK
Having used the system on a number of high-profile festivals,
concerts and tours since its introduction, York-based JSS
Audio is undoubtedly one of the most experienced users of
HK Audio's COHEDRA line array system.
In fact, such is JSS' belief in the potential of HK Audio's
line array, that the company has only recently bought more
COHEDRA units to double up their existing hire stock system.
This now comprises a substantial inventory of 16 x CDR208
mid-hi enclosures + 16 x CDR210S subs, powered by Lab.Gruppen
FP10000QSP amps, using system control courtesy of HK Audio's
Digital Field Controllers, with 4 x Lab.Gruppen FP10000QSP
power amps and 6 x HK Audio CT112 monitors also having been
on JSS' recent shopping list.
"COHEDRA suits the needs of JSS Audio as a good quality
affordable line array," begins JSS owner, Jem Walker.
"When JSS first brought it out to a large outdoor Westlife
gig in Hull at the KC Stadium, it was almost a revelation
to note that it was immediately liked by Ray Furze and Steve
Levitt, the engineers from Production North. The fact that
these guys, who are renowned engineers, liked it, really turned
me on to the system. I also like the system as it's particularly
clean-sounding in performance, it's affordable, and from a
business point of view, it's very cost effective for JSS to
own it."
COCO
HK Audio's Compact Cohedra (CoCo) groundstackable line array
is also a thriving part of the JSS hire stock, and has already
proved the ideal answer to urgent requests for a fully-functional
concert PA on many occasions.
"The HK Audio CoCo 2 x 8 which we bought in 2006 earned
its money back in a year," enthuses Walker. "It's
a fantastic little system. A company like us can put a CoCo
and a couple of digital desks plus a dozen monitors in the
back of a Mercedes Sprinter van and do any theatre in the
country with that. even at very short notice. JSS did a gig
recently for the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace,
and it was ideal for that. Plus, we were asked at very, very
short notice to provide a system for a Runrig gig at the Grand
Opera House in York. When we rolled into the venue with the
CoCo, the engineer was visibly shocked, effectively stating
that there was no way could a system the size of the CoCo
be up to the job in hand. However, we had no such doubts,
and so when we turned the system on and he heard it in action,
he immediately changed his mind. And, following a fantastic
gig by Runrig with a great sound, by the end of the evening,
he was so impressed by the system and what we got it to do
sound-wise, that he wanted to work for us! We’re very,
very happy with it."
INSTALLATION LINE
JSS have also been making great use of HK Audio's Installation
Line on a number of recent projects including York University's
Langwith College, The Courtyard, the prestigious Kennedy's
Bar & Restaurant, and one of York's largest nightclubs,
The Gallery now features a full installation by JSS Audio.
Other recent JSS Audio installs in York include the Voodoo
Lounge and the Dusk bar, with the Nu Bar in Leeds, situated
in the busy central Headrow area of the city, also benefitting
from a full JSS Audio HK install.
