Dave
'Bucket' Colwell endorses Fret-King® and Vintage®
electric guitars.
Top UK session player, and long-time Bad Company guitarist Dave
'Bucket' Colwell has become the latest addition to the ever growing
stable of professional and 'journeyman' Fret-King and Vintage electric
guitar endorsees.
A fan of the Trev Wilkinson designed guitar range, Dave opted for the
Fret-King Blue Label Series Esprit 3 with its trio
of Wilkinson designed P90-style pickups and solid mahogany body and
set-neck.
Dave was also bowled over by the sound and playability of the Vintage
ICON series, he is now using a V100MRPGM Lemon Drop and a
Vintage V52MRBS which he has retrofitted
with a Fishman® Powerbridge, in order to access
a more acoustic tone for tracks like "Feel Like Making Love".
He is also using a VR100CR from the Vintage
ReIssued electric guitar series.
“I haven't stopped playing the guitars, since I received them!”
says Bucket, “The range of sounds from the pick-ups is astounding
but most importantly, they all ring loud & true before you even
plug them in!
The London-born guitarist started playing guitar at the age of eight,
inspired by the likes of Steve Marriott, Paul Kossoff and Mick Ralphs,
he was soon forming bands and playing local venues.
His first single
release came with Angel Street, for whom he wrote the B-side ‘Running
Away. He then worked for a number of years with 720 and then Samson with
whom he toured Europe extensively, opening for Gary Moore, Black Sabbath
and UFO among others.
After the release of the live album ‘Thank You And Goodnight’,
Dave left Samson and was instrumental in the formation of FM, where
he signed a song writing deal with Rondor/Universal, and penned ‘Reach
Out’, released as a B-side to Iron Maiden’s ‘Wasted
Years’. This connection led to Dave writing and recording the
worldwide-release ASAP album ‘Silver & Gold’ with Maiden’s
Adrian Smith.
Further collaborations included Mick Ralphs and Bad Company, Humble
Pie, Paul Rodgers, Spike (Quireboys), Kenney Jones (The Who/SmallFaces)
and Robert Hart (Foreigner.
Dave’s first solo album ‘Guitars, Beers and Tears’ is
due to be released in August 2010 on AAO/Reality records in the US/Canada
and JerkinCrocus Records for the rest of the world. It gave Dave the
chance to write and record with friends, bandmates and peers from throughout
his career, and there will be a tour later this year to promote the
album.
