| As
the Live Music Bill passed its third reading and report stage, the UK
music industry celebrated with an impromptu gig at the Houses of Parliament,
with Vintage® and Danelectro guitar endorsers Daytona Lights. Designed to make it easier for bars and clubs to host live music without needing apply for a complicated and expensive music license, the Private Members Bill introduced by Lib Dem Peer Tim Clement-Jones and promoted in the Commons by Bath MP Don Foster, should now proceed to Royal Assent. A small celebratory party was held in one of the many rooms of the Houses of Parliament, attended by MP's and people from across the music industry such as producer Steve Levine and John Smith General Secretary of the Musicians Union, whilst entertainment was provided by a short set from up and coming indie posters, and stars of Channel 4 TV's Hollyoaks, Daytona Lights. The bill will help bands and musicians at grassroots level by providing a host of new venues for them to play at and gain experience, something that has been in decline for many years. |
