IAN ANDERSON
USING FISHMAN
Ian Anderson, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and frontman
for legendary folk-rock group Jethro Tull, will be using Fishman Rare
Earth humbucker systems in his acoustic guitars for his forthcoming
UK, European and USA solo tour.
Ian opted for the Rare Earth soundhole fitted systems, whilst his guitarist
for the tour, Florin Ophale chose the Rare Earth Blend, which is a combination
of magnetic humbucker and internal microphone, in order to get a more
precise and refined sound.
"I actually have guitars at home with Fishman pre-amps fitted that
are as old as the design, and they have never given me any problems,"
says Ian, "but as I tend to use very small bodied guitars, such
as OOO or parlour-sized models with a heavy strung feel, I’d prefer
to have a soundhole-mounted magnetic pickup, rather than mess around
fitting transducer units. The Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker is an ideal
solution for mic'ing up this type of guitar, as well as providing a
more natural overall sound."
