JHS
takes on Kyoritsu Corporation Limited as exclusive Japanese distributor
for Vintage and Fret-King guitars
Worldwide trade distributor John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd. will see
its Vintage® and Fret-King® guitar brands distributed in Japan
after it signed an exclusive deal with Kyoritsu Corporation Limited.
Kyoritsu Corporation is one of Japan's leading distributors of musical
instruments and equipment. The firm has a nationwide sales office network
with more than 40 sales representatives and a strong marketing and administration
backbone at its head office in Nagoya, which have contributed to its
ongoing success. The firm will exclusively distribute JHS's Vintage
and Fret-King lines in Japan, including the groundbreaking Fret-King
Super-matic self-tuning guitar.
Hideki Kaji, Director of Sales at Kyoritsu, said: “Since we first
laid our eyes on the innovative Fret-King Super-matic and the aesthetically
appealing, shockingly high cost-performance Vintage line of guitars,
we knew that these products would be perfect for the Japanese market.
We can't wait for the first shipment to arrive and start selling these
exciting instruments!”

Dennis Drumm, Managing Director of JHS, also recognises the appeal of
such price-competitive instruments in a busy market like Japan's. He
said: “With Japan being such an important market, we are delighted
that Kyoritsu Corporation Limited has chosen to add Vintage and Fret-King
to its selection of premium distributed brands. With a sales and marketing
operation and company history which goes back to 1979, offices and logistics
covering the entire market and extensive experience with fretted musical
instruments, the Kyoritsu team is well placed to bring all the benefits
of Fret-King and Vintage guitars to more than 4200 music stores across
Japan, and guitarists country-wide."
And Adam Butterworth, JHS's Export Sales Manager, said: “We are
delighted to be working with such a well respected and established distributor.
Kyoritsu Corporation have the ideal sales and marketing expertise to
launch Vintage and Fret-King in Japan via their strong dealer network
and distribution systems.”
Looking forward to the partnership, Jens Duray, Kyoritsu's Manager,
International Division, said: “We are thrilled and honoured that
JHS has chosen us as their distribution partner for Japan and are looking
forward to establishing the brands together. Both lines are high-impact
and are sure to leave their mark with guitarists and bassists in Japan.”
