PLASA Focus 2011 a big success for JHS Pro Audio

The PLASA Focus show, which took place at the Leeds Royal Armouries venue on April 19th and 20th, was bigger than ever, and the show was a resounding success for JHS Pro Audio, the pro audio arm of worldwide trade distributor John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd.
 
During the show, despite what most consider to be pretty dire general economic circumstances, there was a sense that optimism remains in some parts of the pro audio sector.
 
That optimism was certainly evident among many visitors to the JHS Pro Audio stand, which was packed throughout the two days, with a stream of visitors from across the UK and Eire.
 
JHS showcased a wide array of products from its range, including equipment from HK Audio, Allen & Heath, Tannoy, Lab.Gruppen, Lake and LA Audio.
 
The real head-turner was the introduction of HK Audio's new SOUNDCADDY ONE, dubbed 'the world's fastest PA system'. SOUNDCADDY ONE, a bona fide HK Audio “plug’n’play” system, is that rare beast in the PA world, a totally ground-breaking concept, and a truly unique product. The easiest ever PA to transport, with a setup process which is the simplest process imaginable. In commercial rental applications, instead of sending out a selection of cabinets, a power amp, a mixer, and a bag of cables, all to be connected together, (or not), by the uninitiated, now you can just send an HK Audio SOUNDCADDY ONE and a few mics. Also proving its worth at PLASA was HK Audio ELEMENTS, the most portable, scaleable, super compact line array PA system around. As well as the booth display, HK Audio ELEMENTS  provided crystal clear sound for the Wellington Seminar Room, which hosted the PLASA North Seminar and presentation schedule.
 
HK Audio ELEMENTS was specifically chosen for the job by the Leeds Armouries in-house audio technicians, who said: 'We were already familiar with HK Audio sound reinforcement gear, because we use a lot of it. That made ELEMENTS an easy choice for the PLASA North show. That said, when the sessions got going, we were still amazed at the balanced sound and superb intelligibility ELEMENTS provides, and for a compact, low profile system, it also produces a terrific amount of sound.'
 
HK Audio’s other products, including the still relatively new INSTALL Line CADIS and Vortis enclosures, along with favourites from the Band Audio and Concert Audio ranges, proved to be popular with existing customers, and attractive to new ones.
 
Meanwhile, Simeon Ludwell, UK Sales Manager for Lab.Gruppen, Tannoy and Lake, was stationed on the JHS Pro Audio booth throughout the show. He said: 'This year’s show was particularly busy, with strong interest in Tannoy’s VQ Live, Lab.gruppen’s PLM platform and Lake’s LM26 processing system. Interest was also high from new and existing Lake and PLM users regarding new and upcoming features such as MESA mode for LM26 and the iPad Lake control via VNC.'
 
Alan Smith, JHS's Executive Director Sales and Marketing, added: 'PLASA Focus has proved to be an important exhibition for the JHS Pro Audio division, and it's an excellent opportunity to present new products and mingle with new and existing customers from all over the UK and Eire.
