JHS,
UK Music and the MIA sponsor 2011's Great Political Pop quizzes
For the second year running, music industry body UK Music, through the
Music Industries Association (MIA), have chosen JHS brands to provide
prizes at their Great Political Pop quizzes. These will take place over
party conference season in Birmingham (Liberal Democrats), Liverpool
(Labour) and Manchester (Conservative).
The quizzes, hosted by UK Music Chief Executive Feargal Sharkey, will
pit MPs, party members, researchers and journalists against each other
as they attempt to answer a series of politically themed music questions.
They will complement
a range of fringe debates hosted by UK Music, all of which aim to highlight
the cultural and commercial importance of music to the UK – whether
to our domestic economy, to our social well-being or in terms of music
education.
JHS has selected the following prizes for UK Music’s pop quizzes:
For the Yellow party, a liberal selection of SpongeBob SquarePants Real
Musical Instruments – including a guitar, a tuner and a tambourine.
All have been democratically assembled into a “fun festival pack”,
ideal for cheery campfire sing-alongs.
And for the Blue
Party, an award-winning Vintage V300 acoustic guitar in beautiful Powder
Blue. Suitable for the more discerning Tory troubadour, this terrific
guitar, in a hue to suit all shades of the party, will surely bring
musical joy and sartorial satisfaction to the lucky winner.
Dennis J Drumm, Managing Director of JHS, said: “Politics…
too much politics in it for my taste. But it’s a pleasure to be
invited to provide these prizes by UK Music which, in cooperation with
our trade association, the Music Industries Association, does a sterling
job of presenting our industry’s issues to politicians and highlighting
the importance of music to UK plcs. If you don’t follow the activities
of UK Music and MIA, perhaps you should – there’s far more
going on
in the background to support your business than you might think…”
Feargal Sharkey, UK Music's Chief Executive, said: “For the second
year running, UK Music is hugely grateful to the generosity of JHS and
the MIA. Last year our quizzes were massively oversubscribed and, with
such fantastic prizes on offer, I am confident we will be entertaining
full houses once again.”
