JHS’s
Odyssey Premiere range stars at 2011 RNCM Festival of Brass
Brass
instruments from the Odyssey Premiere range, distributed worldwide
by John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd., were a star attraction
at the Royal Northern College of Music's 2011 Festival of
Brass.

The festival, which this year took place between January 28
and 30, showcases the highlights of the brass world, welcoming
visitors and performers from a number of different countries.
Designed in cooperation with designer and master craftsman Peter
Pollard, the Odyssey range of brass and woodwind instruments
– which also includes the entry level Odyssey Debut line
– is meticulously produced with highly specified components
to provide all levels of player with a top quality instrument
at an affordable price.
The Odyssey display pulled in the punters, with teachers, students
and professionals all flocking to the stand to check out the
instruments on display. Peter Pollard, who was present throughout
the weekend, said: "Everyone thought the quality of the
Odyssey instruments was fantastic, and they couldn't believe
the prices!"
On display were Odyssey Premiere flugels, trumpets and pocket
trumpets, with Odyssey Debut cornets and trumpets also on show.
Nick Wright, a professional trumpet player and teacher who was
present at the festival, said: "The general build quality
of the cornet I tried was excellent, and I found it easy to
play with the rich sound and blow of an expensive professional
brass instrument. The cornet was very well in tune from top
to bottom with a lovely sound, affordable and clearly built
to last. I recommend this excellent instrument to anyone who
is looking for a cornet and doesn't want to spend several hundred
pounds."
The festival was another opportunity for Pollard to spread the
Odyssey message, something that he sees as key to the brand's
continuing success: "This show gets Odyssey in the hands
of players, teachers and professionals and allows them to try
them out and generate their own opinion of the brand. It has
reinforced the general opinion that the new Odysseys are fantastic!"
Over the coming months, Pollard will represent the Odyssey range
of instruments throughout the UK at various shows and in-store
clinics. |
