RUSSELL GILBROOK TAKES REGAL TIP TO URIAH HEEP
Classic British rock
act Uriah Heep are another example of a 'survival' band
with a long and turbulent history who are currently
enjoying a new lease of life. Probably best known for hits
like 'July Morning', 'Gypsy' and
'Easy Living' back in the hard rockin' 1970's, the band
– featuring veteran mainstay guitarist Mick Box and
ex-Spider From Mars bassist, Trevor Bolder – have
recently released their 21st studio album, 'Wake The Sleeper'.
When
long-time drummer, Lee Kerslake (who was in the original
Blizzard Of Ozz band with Ozzy, bassist Bob Daisley and
guitarist Randy Rhoads) was forced to retire in 2007 due
to health reasons, Heep began a search for a replacement.
And that replacement turned out to be highly-respected session
drummer, Russell Gilbrook who has played with a long list
of diverse musical icons, including Black Sabbath guitarist
Tony Iommi, Van Morrison, John Farnham, Alan Price, jazz
trombonist Chris Barber and 50's skiffle hero Lonnie Donegan.
A
long time Regal Tip endorsee, Russell didn't have any problem
wondring which sticks he would use in his new gig –
he already has his own signature stick series produced by
Regal Tip (RG204R) that he can't be parted from!
