Starting
with the HV100, this is obviously rated at a nominal
100 watts RMS, through two 12” Celestion
speakers. As mentioned, the amp features Lead and Rhythm
channels, with a 12AX7 valve in the front end for tonality
and colouration. There’s an impressive array of
three high gain and three clean preamp modes, and a
Solo Boost function with its own volume control. 16
programmable onboard digital effects, speaker emulated
Direct Out, Effects Loop, External Speaker Jack, CD/Tape
Input and Tap Tempo Jack – an optional footswitch
controls channel selection, boost and effects selection.
The HV65 puts its 65 watts through a single 12”
Celestion this time, whilst offering the same
comprehensive range of controls, EQ and fx facilities
as big brother HV100.
The easily portable HV30 combo will be a popular choice
– it’s a good combination of size, weight,
performance and price, an ideal unit for home and rehearsal
use. Same two channel operation, with 2 x high gain
+ 2 clean preamp modes this time. No effects loop or
solo boost, though it does feature a headphones jack
facility instead.
