THOMAS
BLUGSignatureSeries
Over
recent years, many guitar enthusiasts have admired the virtuosic
electric guitar style of Thomas Blug, one of Europe’s
most respected players.
In addition, Thomas’ work as a product development
consultant and product demonstrator for Hughes & Kettner
guitar amplification means he is a regular must-see feature
at music expos and shows worldwide, alongside his own sought-after
CD releases and tuition DVDs, as well as performances with
the Thomas Blug Band which includes keyboardist Thijs Van
Leer, erstwhile mainstay of Dutch rock legends, Focus.
Thomas has one of the most recognisable guitar sounds in
the world, playing with a fluid, melodic and powerful style,
and has over the years, become synonymous with his much-loved
and instantly recognisable electric guitar, a well-used
faded Olympic White ‘61.
As a player who has been the inspiration to thousands of
players, Thomas chose Trev Wilkinson, and UK guitar brand
Vintage®, to prove the point that it is possible to
create in a signature guitar an instrument which faithfully
recreates the unique attributes of his beloved white ‘61.
With its battle-scarred body, custom electronics and personalised
switching all added to the already exceptionally well-specc’d
Vintage® ReIssued Series™ V6 guitar, players looking
for an edge with this iconic design, and who also perhaps
aspire to emulate Thomas’ spine- tingling sound, can
now buy exactly the same instrument which he uses in his
day-to-day work.
“Outstanding”, comments Thomas on his Vintage
V6 Signature Model, which we’ve all come to refer
to as the “ElastaPlastaBlugaCasta” in reference
to the first ever sample the Vintage team showed me 4 years
ago, with the brand name covered by a Band-Aid®. “To
achieve all this, in an instrument which literally anyone
can afford, even a first time buyer, is an unbelievable
achievement. Working closely with Trev Wilkinson to translate
every subtle part of my guitar has been a labour of love.”
“Working with the Vintage® team has proven that
there are still people in the commercial side of our business
who are total ‘guitar heads’ and who really
do care about producing honest instruments without compromise,”
continues Thomas. “Getting the best guitars into players’
hands without emptying their wallets and bank accounts!
Quite amazing.”

The
V6MRHDX's body is alder, and it features a hard maple, bolt-on
neck with a 71/⁄2” radius rosewood fingerboard
and 21 frets. All the hardware is genuine Wilkinson, including
the three vintage-voiced single coil pickups with aged ivory
covers and Thomas's beloved Bukka switch, which is operated
by a push/push pot on the back tone control and provides
a hum-cancelling, subtly tone-altering extra dummy coil
when needed. And it's all wrapped up in the beautiful Vintage
Icon package, with the guitar's body and parts all meticulously
aged to simulate years of onstage use. Topped off with stunning
original artwork, this is a must-have guitar.
“I wanted a guitar that looks cool – like Hendrix's,
but with all the features of my signature Vintage Icon V6
guitar,” he says. “And it had to play like all
the guitars I usually play: pickups in the same position
and not a reversed body.” True to Thomas' requests,
the guitar features the same top quality specs as his treasured
'61 and his original Vintage signature, but comes with a
reversed headstock and hand-applied graphics created by
German artist Daniel Hahn especially for the Summer Of Love.

One
of the founding fathers of the 60's British Blues movement,
pioneering guitarist and songwriter, Mick Abrahams enjoyed
major acclaim with legendary folk blues outfit, Jethro Tull
prior to forming his own band, Blodwyn Pig, and has since
recorded and released several successful solo albums.
Guitarists
may very well recognise the heavy wear ‘n’ tear
pattern scarring on the glossless Boulevard Black body,
with the guitar’s stripped maple neck and fingerboard
also emulating the ageing process of countless hours of
use in rehearsals, recordings, in and out of flightcases
and onstage on numerous international tours.

But how many people can afford the vintage instrument
of their dreams? That special instrument which displays
a unique level of wear from decades of playing –
at home, numerous rehearsal sessions, smokey pubs
to working mens’ clubs, gigs and tours at
home and abroad? Or how many guitarists can wait
20 years before their own guitar starts to show
that kind of time-related character?
Now
you don’t have to wait! You don’t even
have to re-mortgage the house to make the payment.

VS6MRF 'Fool' Series
Each hand made Vintage® Icon Series™“Fool”
guitar is a true, ‘one of a kind’
instrument, with unique artwork exquisitely
and individually hand painted, in oils,
in a faithful re-creation of the iconic
guitar from1967, based upon artwork commissioned
by the late George Harrison of The Beatles,
for the giant, world famous, mural painted
on the wall of London’s famous Beatles-owned
Apple Boutique by the Dutch art collective,
known as “The Fool”.
The art collective went on to re-create
the vibe of the Apple Boutique mural,
in miniature, on one of George Harrison’s
guitars, which Harrison had given to his
friend Eric Clapton.
The guitar has come to be known as “The
Fool” after its creators. The original
guitar was used almost constantly by Eric
Clapton in Cream, and eventually ended
up in the hands of legendary US performer,
Todd Rundgren.
“The Fool” is one of the most
instantly recognisable guitars in the
world. Paying homage to an earlier era
of psychedelia, and some truly exceptional,
all time classic guitar sounds, the Vintage®
Icon series™ “VS6 Fool”
is memorabilia brought to life, an exciting
salute to a time of unrestrained artistic
interaction, and creative freedom in pop
art and rock music.
