‘The Gordon Giltrap JG Mahogany has such a mellow, rich tone. It covers such a wide range, whether it’s delicate fingerpicking or percussive strumming. I love it!’

About Ben Gorb

As a teenager, Ben developed a great passion for classic rock music as he discovered artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who and AC/DC. At fourteen years old, he picked up a guitar and was writing music within a year.

Ben is a unique, versatile artist; his songs are filled with energy, driven by his powerful voice and fierce, rhythmic guitar style. Ben creates explosive rock songs but also composes heartfelt pop and folk ballads inspired by artists such as The Corrs, John Mayer and Gordon Giltrap.

In addition to playing solo, Ben also performs with a trio and a string quartet, all of whom are former students of the RNCM in Manchester, where Ben received his Masters Degree in Popular Music. While his songwriting is informed by his appreciation of pop music, his love of classical composers, such as Stravinsky and Beethoven, fuels his passion for writing for strings. He performed with the trio and quartet to a full house at the King Edward Street Chapel in Macclesfield in December 2017 for the launch of his live EP ‘Unplugged With Strings’.

In May 2016, Ben's studio EP ‘Ride’ was released, featuring talented musicians Josh Savage and Joseph Shaw, the drummer and basist in his trio. He gigs regularly around Manchester and Cheshire. Ben’s music has been played on Radio XS (now Radio XS Manchester) as well as other local stations.

With a career now well and truly in the ascendancy, Ben was recently taken under the wing of fellow Vintage endorsee, the great Gordon Giltrap MBE;  fittingly, Ben’s choice of instrument is the Giltrap signature VE3000MGG, recommended to him by none other than Gordon himself.
