About Stewart Methven

In the summer of 2009, a loose collective of musicians led by former Southpaw Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist Gavin Munro got together one afternoon during the Southern Fried Festival in Perth. They rehearsed just once before performing in front of the festival audience later the same day. The audience loved it and Red Pine Timber Company was born! They describe their style as Americana Country with a strong Celtic influence and through the band’s willingness to embrace talent when and where they find it, they now have a multinational line-up and unusually, a horn section!

Stewart from Blackburn in Lancashire bought his first guitar at 15 and after a short spell in the Royal Navy, decided that music was the way to go and moved to Perth in 2003 to join The Revivals where he met Dave. They gigged up and down the country with the band supporting acts like The Zutons and Fun Lovin’ Criminals and were on the same bill as The View and the Pigeon Detectives.  As well as performing twice at the South by South West festival in Texas, they have taken part in several BBC Radio interviews and Stewart has performed with Tracy Conover, Jimmy Nelson and Wolftrain among others.  For Stewart being asked to join the Red Pine Timber Company has been a dream come true and he compares the buzz to being asked to join the Rolling Stones!

In Aaron's teens, having been invalided out of the Army due to an injury, Aaron found himself back home in Oban with nothing to do so he taught himself to play the guitar and formed a heavy rock band with his brother. They moved to Perth to join the rock school at Perth College and Aaron formed heavy stone rock group Triangle Theory.  Aaron was introduced to country music when working as the guitar tech for Southpaw and went on to form a successful country band, the Humble Hobos.  Gav invited Aaron to listen to his new band (Red Pine Timber Company) and in a chance opportunity Aaron ended up playing for them and becoming a permanent member.  A former model, Aaron is now happy as a family man.
