Memorium to John H Skewes

1933 – 2024

JHS Company’s founder John H. Skewes, passed away peacefully whilst he slept at his home during the night of September 4th, 2024, aged 90.
 
Born in 1933, John Skewes, was an archetypal sales professional, marketer and ideas man who worked in our industry from January 1960 and then went on to found John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd., in October 1965, working tirelessly for his business until retiring in March 2016 after which he enjoyed a well earned retirement, remaining active until very recently.
 
A mentor to many, John Skewes exhibited the kind of Yorkshire grit, tenacity, determination, and sheer hard work, which is famous for overcoming adversity, producing tremendous success and being an example for all to learn from.
 
He will be sorely missed.
 
The funeral of our Company founder, John H. Skewes, who passed away on September 4th, 2024, will be held at Stonefall Crematorium, Wetherby Road, Harrogate,  HG3 1DE on Monday 14 October at 11:40 hrs followed by wake at the Pavilions of Harrogate, Railway Road, Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, HG2 8NZ.
